So I had this sad moment the other week when trying to think of people to send comp copies of the Dunes to for reviews. I had an easy time sending out ones as gifts, but it really struck me how many of our scene's regular reviewers aren't doing reviews anymore (or even posting). I could really only come with a couple and both of them are people I don't particularly respect much. Any suggestions on people to reach out to who are doing reviews? Doesn't have to be bloggers, in fact breaking into the forum scenes that I avoid would probably be good.

  1. Kiel Chenier is pretty cool, and he does neat graphic reviews on his tumblr.

  2. People that come to mind:
    * Bryce Lynch - kind of on my shit list with "haha I'm going to burn 4e books and be smug about it" but he has done lots of good reviews
    * Kiel Chenier - He's been putting up reviews of 5e stuff and I think he hits a slightly different scene than 'ours', going to a tumblr audience.

Not too many out there. :(

  3. ...whoops that'll teach me to write a comment and then forget to hit post.

  4. I think I mentioned him before, but Chris Helton has advantage of reaching outside our little sphere a bit at Bleeding Cool. It probably doesn't translate to as high a percentage sells but it can't hurt.

Someone doing an rpgnet review would be good.

  5. Yeah I sent one to Bryce though he's been AWOL since early August (and didn't respond).

  6. If I hadn't been thanked in the book itself, I'd do a review of it over at Black Gate.

  7. For RPGnet people who might provide worthwhile comp reviews, Benjamin Baugh comes to mind. He's quite interested in B/X, but hasn't reviewed too much AFAIK.

  11. Martin Rayla is on Google+ and wrote a very kind review of my Dozen book for the Gnome Stew site, which seems to reach beyond the standard OSR stomping grounds.

  12. Yeah he's good people. Pretty sure he backed it though, but I will check.

  13. Bryce Lynch is I believe MIA. The DF review section has slowed a lot lately. There is no review section at odd74. I don't frequent rpgsite or rpgnet so have no idea there. Your observation is correct that reviewing has slowed lately for some reason

  14. It seems like an odd time for that vacuum Scott Moberly as there is a lot of good product out there (maybe even more than a couple year ago?). I have to admit one reason  I don't do reviews (besides feeling a conflict of interest often) is that I just don't feel that I do them very well.

  15. My favorite reviews were from Beedo, but he's also not really active anymore.

  16. You mean as a reviewer? 'Cause he did a blog post just a couple of days ago.
