Nefarious Nine Jobs Board

Nefarious Nine Jobs Board

Jobs that we want to farm out to other groups.

Group Tasks
Recover the Golden Barge - 3000 gp (?)

Lazzaro
Recover the Head of a Giant Bat (last seen around Bad Rajetz) - (negotiable, but will include wizard spell scrolls)
Other Mysterious Task (requires direct negotiation)

Manzafrain
Recover Elishka - 1500 gp; 500 gp bonus for humiliating (not killing) her father

Comments

  1. Lazzaro cannot offer monetary rewards until this week's take is posted, and they likely won't be very significant until after that, but he is willing to offer spell scrolls (in addition to money), though the specifics will have to be negotiated.

One thing he needs is the head of a giant bat. These are known to be found in the caverns beneath Bad Rajetz, but location does not matter.

A second task requires more discretion. I suppose I'll have to hire an agent to meet with the party anonymously (so they don't connect directly back to Lazzaro, I mean).

Others as I consider the possibilities.

  2. I don't know about hex clearing... That's a little too close to home for me.

I'll do a write-up for recovering my wife later, but I'd be willing to pay 1500 suns for her safe return, with up to a 500 gp bonus if her father is suitably humiliated (but not killed). However, as a corollary, if my wife is hurt by the ruffians then their only reward will be eternal servitude as members of the walking wet.

  3. Robert Parker Maybe we just ask for hex exploration rather than clearing.

Once we get some horses and some more troops, I figure that the kozaks can also serve as scouts for us, so it may be worthwhile to take the explore bit off the jobs board.

"Longstreet thought: can't be true. But he was an instinctive man, and suddenly his brain knew and his own temper boiled. Jeb Stuart....was joyriding. God damn him."

    ReplyDelete
  4. do the domovoi have any idea where giant bats might roost locally?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Humza Kazmi That makes sense, I just worry that we'll miss some important stuff. Plus I like the hex crawling and I doubt a 2nd level party could handle a lot of the stuff we've run into.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Robert Parker That's fair. I guess what I want is a bigger and broader hexmap, which we can crawl through at leisure...so probably down to kozak joyrides, since "run through these hexes but don't engage" is an even harder sell for PCs than for kozaks.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I am happy to fund other groups operating abroad but I am very much opposed to any of them running around in our territory. PCs are notoriously unpredictable as assets go.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yeah, that does sound like a recipe for inviting a mercenary army inside the walls and watching them raid your city.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Robert Parker I wouldn't go that far; I think that we've got enough throw weight to take down a lower-level adventuring group...but Anthony Picaro is right, they are unpredictable assets. (Which makes the barge recovery tricky also.)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Another possibility: perhaps we could hire them to "clean up" the Mud Meridian?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Didn't you guys set up the Mud Meredian in the first place?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'd would trust the Barge more to the convention group, due to their more one-shot-ey nature. They may not finish, but they can send us back information.

    ReplyDelete
  13. why do we want the meridian "cleaned?"

    ReplyDelete
  14. Mud Meridian contains the Great Aviary of Komius Otmar, which I'd prefer to keep for us to loot.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yeah, I meant try to organize them into some sort of fighting force / mercenary company. Their original purpose (which was to cock block the Autarchs) has been served, so we might as well try to recover them.

    ReplyDelete
  16. They block incursions from Marlankh as well.

    ReplyDelete
  17. yeah i thought of them more as cockblocking marklankh myself

    ReplyDelete
  18. Right, but didn't the DK sign a nonagression pact with Marlankh?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Robert Parker

Londo Mollari: Mass drivers? They have been outlawed by every civilized planet!
Lord Refa: These are uncivilized times.
    Londo Mollari: We have treaties!
Lord Refa: Ink on a page!

    ReplyDelete
  20. He did indeed sign one with the Overking.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Is it ok to post this list later today? I'd like to begin the recruitment hoopla.

    ReplyDelete
  22. is this supposed to be like a flailsnails job list?

    ReplyDelete
  23. i mean, i understand the convention thing but do we as the nine really want some other PCs gettin' their filthy paws on our barge

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sure. I assume you'll do a punchier writeup?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Robert Parker yeah I will. Probably do it as a blog post and play up the open world thing.

    ReplyDelete
  26. cole long We're offering the cash to other folks for picking the barge up for us; we've got the control information and they don't know Eld.

Plus they know that we'll come after them with great vengeance and furious anger if they try and grab the barge from us.

Are we fine with a 3000 gp bounty on the barge?

    ReplyDelete
  27. thats a lot of cash for an adventure i'd rather take myself

    ReplyDelete
  28. cole long I wouldn't mind doing it either, but there has been resistance by several players who are not interested in pursuing the barge.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah, I mean pretty much every time I have said "Hey I'd like to go after the barge, is anyone interested," it's crickets all around.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm still interested, Humza Kazmi, but I suspect the problem is that the suggestion often comes when we are deep mid-dungeon, and several newer players (Evan Elkins and Anthony Picaro, in particular) weren't there the first time around. Now might actually be a good time, since we're not really dedicated to any single course.

    ReplyDelete
  31. i am, it just seems like it's not as time-sensitive as whats going on in the feral shore and with the decade king right now

    ReplyDelete
  32. That makes sense to me, Robert Parker.  We're kinda between things, though I'd also like to explore more of the city.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I absolutely want to explore the city, Evan Elkins, but I don't feel like we're near any major discoveries, just in the initial survey phase.

cole long I definitely think the Patriarch/D-K stuff is important, but it hasn't "gone live" yet, so while we're in a holding pattern we could probably grab the barge pretty quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Robert Parker again, agreed.  I think this looks like a good time to get the barge.  Does it have lasers?  maybe we can shoot the patriarch with them.

    ReplyDelete
  35. So in this case do you guys want to ask Chris Kutalik to run the con game in another continuity, and we go after the barge in the Real HC?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sure, Humza Kazmi. Shall we put it on the 'to do' for this upcoming Tuesday?

    ReplyDelete
  37. There are no tickers that would be a barrier at the current conjecture for y'all going to go get the barge.

But if you are going down to the Scarlet Sultanate I will need advance time to get things designed (which sounds fun so no worries). Like if you want to do next Tuesday it'd be good to know sometime today. Sorry the realities of just in time production.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Or more like the tickers are slow enough that a few weeks wouldn't matter so much.

    ReplyDelete
  39. i suppose we could schedule it for week after next

    ReplyDelete
  40. but i say let's go for it as soon as chris is ready to roll

    ReplyDelete
  41. Totally fine, Chris. I've been similarly pushing back a player who wants to do some heist stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm fine with running it Tuesday if y'all have consensus today about doing it in other words.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Now I'm getting stoked as I've been sitting on the S Sultanate stuff for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Our Honored Grandmother definitely listed the barge as one of the weapons that could potentially take out the Patriarch. Since it seems it would be much, much easier to steal the barge than to find parts of the Rod, I'm all for it.

Let's just not start a war with the Scarlet Sultanate in the process.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Chris Kutalik As to posting the FS hooks, any chance we can get the take from last session beforehand? That would greatly help my ability to set proper rewards.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh and, I suppose I should just ask the party about this:

Should I put a bounty on Lady Szara (whose death I might benefit from) or should we plan to knock her off ourselves at some point?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anthony Picaro That depends on the benefit.

What else did GG suggest for taking out the Patriarch?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Robert Parker The Rod of Seven Parts was the other main thing.

Anthony Picaro Why do you want Szara dead? I have no particular problem with it, but you seem very particular about the process.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The take from Tuesday
    Swag Acquired:
    2 gold cloth corpse-wrappings (250 suns each)
    Opal-covered skull cap (3000 suns)

    Exp per Player: 700

Anthony Picaro Evan Elkins Michael Moscrip cole long Robert Parker  Feel like I may have missed something. Need to look at my session notes at home.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Chris Kutalik was I included in the XP calcs?

    ReplyDelete
  51. No darn it and you did a lot of heavy lifting. Exp per player should be 600 rounding up.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I have listed some kind of large neck adornment from the non-skullcap corpse, but honestly I'm not sure I heard that right.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Okay, assuming no additional treasure, 500 suns apiece (including the group fund).

What is our current tally on the group fund?

    ReplyDelete
  54. A platinum circlet worth 1000 suns so each of you add 170 exp!
