Ok post last night's bust I was thinking that it would be good to have a back-up plan for short-handed nights instead of just calling it a night (which supremely bums me out). So, in the future on Tuesday nights if we have 2-3 players (or 4 and the party feels it's in a too-dangerous place), I will run if people are down one of the following things:
1. One of two outstanding hooks that can be run for a small party. I'm going to retool the critters/opposition to be roughly appropriate while keeping the treasure at the same level--so they should be lucrative if the party is successful.
To date that means these two hooks:
Jaromil, a local journeyman of the Schrimpschongers and Whittlers Guild in Marlank, is offering--due to the threat of pauper's prison—the sale of a map handed down in his family for years that he says reveals the location of the long lost Great Aviary of Komius Otmar, the crazed Master of Horse of Overking Raginmud XXXII. The site is rumored to be “somewhere in the hills northeast of Marlinko Canton”. Jaromil will let go of the map for 50 gold suns or best offer. Shipping is free!

ReplyDeleteI wish I had remembered that I had that all prepped. A thief or mountebank is pretty useful in that scenario for obvious reasons, but it's surmountable.

ReplyDeleteAlso, a small group might be suited to just some hexcrawling and exploration around the Feral Shore.
That's a good point Humza Kazmi lots of unexplored real estate on that map.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of option 1. Also, easily explained for me by the fact I have more than one character, but some continuity juxtaposition might happen for others.
