Ok so here is the situation for if you want to go after the Norkers before or after the next session.
Ok so here is the situation for if you want to go after the Norkers before or after the next session. This is their territory as reported to you by the Grotmen. Hex size is 200 yards and the area shown represents much of the hex and a half to the northwest of the Tiger Temple.
The house icon hexes represent small camps of Norker clans, the Grotmen say the Norkers in each number in the hundreds but you are fairly sure having seen the southeastern camp that they are likely more like 20-50 in each. The Deaths Head icon represents a giant stone head that the Norkers use as a camp for their tribe chief and his clan.
what is the radius of the sleep spell?
ReplyDeleteEvan Elkins Mike Davison Anthony Picaro Michael Moscrip Humza Kazmi cole long Interested to hear your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteHow many mercs do we have now?
ReplyDeletei take it the Red Hippogryphs do not have training in forest fighting?
ReplyDeletethe PHB says 3" so that would be 30 feet indoor and 30 yards out (I believe).
ReplyDeleteEvan Elkins 100 in the Red Hippogriffs. 15 in your starting force and something like 15 more merc guards (blanking).
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking we might want to have a daring strike team invisibly waiting inside the giant stone head when the attack begins.
ReplyDeletecole long no not really and they are armed and trained to be basically medium infantry.,
ReplyDeletehow much invisibility do we have available to us?
ReplyDeleteWe have three casters with invisibility.
ReplyDeleteSleep is 240' range.
ReplyDeleteAs I see it we have two options: fight our way upriver or strike from the forest at the giant stone head. Taking out the stone head throws them into disarray and panic, but it will be easier and more thorough to fight our way upriver. We will need to make sure to destroy the stone head no matter what, since I suspect that it will continue to draw a norker presence otherwise.
Also I propose using just the Red Hippogriffs; I want to keep our towns guarded.
ReplyDeleteHumza Kazmi it depends. if the stone head is hollow it may be a structure we want to occupy
ReplyDeleteOr make fly around shouting and dispensing rifles?
ReplyDeleteI agree that we should only use the Red Hippogriffs for this, leaving our holdings guarded. I think working our way upriver, like Apocalypse Now, is the way to go. For each settlement, I would suggest sending half our force around behind before attacking. In addition to getting troops into their rear, it would hopefully prevent them from warning the succeeding settlements.
What are the Red Hippogriffs armed with?
ReplyDeletePikes, sword&buckler, dopplesoldners.
ReplyDeleteMm... Not good forest fighting weapons.
ReplyDeleteLazzaro's thoughts are that there's zombies to make and scrolls to write and this toe really requires some investigating back here at base and... yeah. But if we need to invade a stone head that sounds like D&Dtype small unit tactics and therefor an in-session activity.
ReplyDeleteI will leave to the party: either give me a plan and I will run it between sessions or we can play it out on Tuesday using the skirmish rules. I'm cool either way.
ReplyDeleteI support between session resolution. Move up the river and take them out.
ReplyDeleteMy though was the camps between and the head during.
ReplyDeleteAnthony Picaro 's plan sounds good to me.
ReplyDeleteIf possible, I'd like our troops to flank the settlements from the rear and pincer as per Michael Moscrip 's suggestion.
that sounds like a tall order given the small scale of the hexes and the wooded terrain Humza Kazmi
ReplyDeletecole long shit, I had forgotten reduced scale. In that case let's just go upriver and bypass the stone head?
ReplyDeleteI vote for holding off on investigating the stone head until after we make progress on finding the rod though.
it could be weeks or months before we find the rod, and we only have the soldiers one more week
ReplyDeleteTaking into account all the timing details, I think we should send the Hippogriffs against all 3 norker villages during downtime before the game Tuesday. I don't know if it's already too late to do it that way though.
ReplyDeleteNot too late.
ReplyDeleteTake the villages in downtime, head in session.
ReplyDeleteJust officially let me know what your concrete plan of action is before tomorrow evening preferably.
ReplyDeleteOkay, who wants to write up the action plan?
ReplyDeletenormally me but hurt fingers last night; can't type effectively
ReplyDeleteMichael Moscrip? Evan Elkins? cole long?
ReplyDeleteOk, one proposal is to send the Red Hippogriffs to attack the 3 Norker villages, with two options. 1 also attack the stone head. 2 try to have some of the troops flank the norkers during each attack.
ReplyDeleteVote yes or no for the attack, then if yes, say which options you want with it.
Attack: Yes.
ReplyDeleteHead: Yes.
Flank: No.
Attack: Yes
ReplyDeleteOption: I am tempted to go with a flanking force, since I think our biggest advantage on the Norkers is superior training and flanking would increase the chance they'd route; however, I'm less informed on the current situation and thus will choose to agree with Robert here. Attack the head.
My reasoning is based on cole long's. I fear there is too high of a chance of being caught between camps, especially the two southernmost.
ReplyDeleteflanking would require marching our troops through the forests which would mitigate or eliminate the advantages our troops have (training, formation).
ReplyDeleteAttack, yes
ReplyDeletehead, yes
flank, no
attack - yes
ReplyDeletehead - yes
flank - no
Sounds like we're all in agreement.
ReplyDeleteJust to be clear: do you mean attack the head with the Hippogriffs or during the session?
ReplyDeleteDoes our "intelligence" give any indication as to whether anyone lives inside the head, or whether they just camp around it?
ReplyDeleteThe Norker chief and his band live inside it according to the Grotmen.
ReplyDeleteif that's the case i think we should handle the head itself in person
ReplyDeleteSounds good. So have the Hippogriffs attack the three villages now, then we hit the stone head during the session.
ReplyDeleteOk then Captain Otherpatch sets off with his column.
ReplyDelete"Good luck!"
